Cross-border journalism doesn’t happen in isolation — and neither does UNCOVERED, the signature conference of the IJ4EU fund. This year’s gathering returns to Athens on September 25, once again joining forces with the iMEdD International Journalism Forum.

Together, these two events offer a shared space for journalists, editors, funders and media pioneers to exchange ideas and forge new collaborations.

Organised by the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF), UNCOVERED offers a closer look at the work of IJ4EU grantees and others shaping the landscape of collaborative watchdog journalism in Europe.

Registration for UNCOVERED opens on July 17.

Why Attend UNCOVERED?

IJ4EU’s annual conference brings together reporters, editors, funders and media freedom advocates to swap notes, share lessons and spark new ideas. Whether you’re chasing your next cross-border collaboration, showcasing a powerful story or just looking for inspiration, UNCOVERED is the place to be.

Here’s what to expect:

  • Behind-the-scenes insights from IJ4EU-funded investigations
  • Workshops and talks on everything from press freedom to investigative techniques
  • Frank conversations about challenges in the field — from legal threats to burnout
  • Unfiltered connection with Europe’s investigative journalism community

IJ4EU Impact Award 2025

The IJ4EU Impact Award ceremony will take place on September 26 as a joint highlight of UNCOVERED and the iMEdD International Journalism Forum, celebrating excellence in cross-border investigative reporting in Europe.

With €15,000 in prize money, the awards recognise teams whose work has made a significant impact. The awards are managed by ECPMF on behalf of the IJ4EU consortium.

Save the Dates

17 July: Registration for UNCOVERED opens. Places are limited and in high demand. To be the first to know when it goes live, sign up for the UNCOVERED newsletter, or follow ECPMF on X, Facebook or LinkedIn.

25 September: Closed-door kick-off of UNCOVERED for registered guests, including the latest IJ4EU grantees. Honest talk, no filters.

25–27 September: The iMEdD International Journalism Forum features UNCOVERED as part of its three-day programme of panels, discussions and new ideas in journalism.

Register for both events

Attendance at UNCOVERED on 25 September requires registration for both UNCOVERED and the iMEdD Forum. Registration for UNCOVERED opens on 17 July.

Registering for the iMEdD Forum, meanwhile, gives you access to all public activities of the Forum between 25 and 27 September, offering an excellent opportunity to engage with a wider community of journalists, experts and media professionals.

We encourage attendees to participate in the full Forum experience alongside UNCOVERED to make the most of this unique gathering.

Both events are free of charge.
