• Grants restricted to IJ4EU grantees of the past two funding rounds
  • Each team eligible for at least €750
  • Deadline for applications: August 21

The Investigative Journalism for Europe (IJ4EU) fund invites grantees to apply for financial assistance to attend this year’s IJ4EU UNCOVERED Conference in Athens on September 25.

Grants of at least €750 are available to each investigative team supported by IJ4EU during the past two funding rounds — that is, any team that received IJ4EU funding since November 2024.

The money is intended to help cover travel and accommodation costs for one or more team members.

The deadline for applications is August 21, 2025 at 23:59 CEST.

Organised by the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom, UNCOVERED will be hosted by the Incubator for Media Education and Development (iMEdD) in Athens’s Peiraios 260 venue.

The conference will dovetail with iMEdD’s International Journalism Forum, which will start on the evening of September 25 and run through September 27.

Held just before the International Journalism Forum kicks off, UNCOVERED will provide a safe space for IJ4EU grantees to share lessons learnt from working on complex cross-border collaborations.

Participants will then be able to rub shoulders with the iMEdD community as the two events merge on the evening of September 25. Grantees will have full access to the rest of the International Journalism Forum on September 26 and 27.

This includes a public awards ceremony for winners of the IJ4EU Impact Award 2025, scheduled for the evening of September 26.

Please note that for administrative reasons, IJ4EU grantees need to register separately for UNCOVERED and the iMEdD International Journalism Forum.

Team leaders of eligible IJ4EU-supported investigations are invited to apply for travel grants by filling out this short form.

Each eligible team will receive a single travel grant to manage and share at their own discretion. Teams are responsible for deciding how to allocate the funds among their members. IJ4EU will not request proof of expenditure or further details. However, all grant recipients will be required to sign a grant agreement in person at the UNCOVERED Conference.
